Our Purpose

- to know God and use our entire lives in service to Him.

- to stand in the gap through prayer, giving and service to viable ministries in Latin America.

- to be transparent helpers of fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, using our resources and skills that through the Holy Spirit, we might encourage and equip those who have less.

- to share a living perspective from Latin America to our churches, friends and family in the states and beyond.

More Cultural Clashes....

Nothing major - thank goodness.

One - HEAT. Wow - and have we needed it. It's been cold but pushing a button for the temp to go up is a treat! Today it seems the area has decided to pretend it's summer so the sun is out so outside feels dreamy. Inside places w/ AC make for layers but it's good!

Two - Vacation Bible School. Riley came armed and dangerous. (utility knife that is basically like a body part and always on, but here....ummm....no.) BUSTED. I didn't even think about it. Ooops.

Three - Light. As in it doesn't get dark here 'till about 10pm. Plus, it's light at about 5am. We're not used to that anymore (closer to the equator we are) so bedtime went out the window for a few days (week) before mom figured out that you have to look at the clock to tell what time it is and not rely on the natual light. Hmmmm....hadn't seen that one coming.

There are more....but since the blog has been neglected for weeks - I'll save them for another day.

Blessings,

Faith

Thank you....

...Yacolt Evangelical Free Church!!

We had the pleasure of not only connecting with old friends but making some new ones as we spent last Sunday sharing about our ministry and work in the Sunday school assembly and during a GREAT BBQ afterwards! The friends filled up our love tanks and there are promises of more get togethers involving Mexican food and more fellowship. The sun was out and while we would looooooove to take credit for bring that to the northwest from Mexico...some things just aren't possible. :)

We're looking forward to sharing again in the months to come with any and all who are interested. Here is our official disclaimer though, we can't promise to bring the sunshine to every event. We'll do what we can but...

Blessings,

Faith

More Cultural Confusion

Actually this has more to do with the 'little' details in our lives.

Alan was talking on the phone the other day to someone about this and that and as we were in the car - people were overhearing his side of the conversation.

"Yes, we're in New Mexico these days" (talking about our US address)

"Right, our cell number has a Hawaii area code." (our stateside cell phone)

"Actually we LIVE in Mexico...yes, the country." (our actual physical residence for most of the time)

"Our skype phone number is a Washington area code." (computer phone that rings us in Mexico through a local Vancouver number)

Hang up.

Little voice peeps up from the back seat, "I thought we were in COLORADO!"

"Actually dear, we're traveling through UTAH."

"Oh."

Complicated I tell ya.
